Pondering my next lecture ...

Ph.D.
With Cabrillo College since 2005

A native of Seattle, I have lived in the Bay Area for decades, and spent a total of four years in Japan (at three different times). I went to high school at ‘Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawai’i. I have a Ph.D. in Japanese history from the University of California, Berkeley. I have taught Japanese history (19C) in the Spring Semester since 2005, and a hybrid (half online, half in-person) section of modern world history (2B), focused on the North Pacific region, in the Fall Semester since 2014.

I live in San Francisco, and am only on campus on Wednesdays.

If you're interested in Japan, or the North Pacific region, or history in general, please join me for one or both of those courses!
