Dr. FitzGerald's research focus and passion is on fostering resilience, which she applies daily to her work with students and families at the Cabrillo College Stroke and Disability Learning Center (SDLC). She is also passionate about encouraging faculty, staff and all students in their academic and professional development, particularly first generation students. In collaboration with the Allied Health and SDLC faculty, she leads engaging, creative seminars and workshops on strategies for student success, dealing with transitions through the life span, and stress management.
She brings over thirty-five years of experience in counseling, education, and administration in health care and higher education to Cabrillo College.
