Lecturer in 2D and 3D animation
Classes
In Fall 2018 I am teaching one course at Cabrillo College.
ETech40 :: 3D Modeling and Animation
This introduces students to object and character representation in Blender, an open source digital modeling and animation program. Blender is widely used for creative and technical visualization/animation as well as special effects for video and form generation for 3D printing. During the course students will discuss a variety of modeling/animation examples, review other 3D software such as SketchUp and Rhinoceros, and be introduced to industry conventions and standards.
About me
My professional background is as a product designer and furniture designer/maker. I'm co-founder of MakersFactory, the 3D printing center which recently moved to the Cabrillo campus, and principal of StudioCruz, a design, digital modeling, and animation consultancy in Santa Cruz. My emphasis in these two courses is to teach students practical design based skills that they can use to create effective, professional digital models and animations for themselves and their clients.
