With Cabrillo College since 2016

Since I was 2 years old I knew I wanted to be a marine biologist, largely because of the Sunday night Jasques Cousteau specials on TV.

I got my undergraduate degree in Zoology from the University of Idaho (near where I grew up), and my masters degree in Marine, Estuarine and Environmental Sciences from the University of Maryland at College Park. It's worth noting that - while I was in grad school - I took a job as a teacher taking lower-level biology labs to K12 schools in the great Wasthington DC metro area.

Here are the jobs I've held:
- Research fishery biologist with the National Marine Fisheries Service (San Francisco)
- Academic Coordinator for the Math, Engineering Science, Achievement (MESA) Schools Program (UCSC)
- Director for the California State Summer School for Math & Science (COSMOS @ UCSC)
- Founder/Director of the EVOLUTIONS After School Program, Yale Internship Program, and SciCORPS Career Ladder Program (Yale University)
- Dean of Education at the Maritime Aquarium (Norwalk, CT)
- Dean of Math & Science (San Jose City College)
- Dean of Natural & Applied Sciences (Cabrillo College, since 4/16)

My education career spans nearly 20 years during which time I have become a passionate advocate for the role community college play, and the students we serve.

Welcome to Cabrillo!

It is my role to support the success of students taking courses in the Division of Natural & Applied Sciences. If you are a student and you have a problem or question related to your math or science classes, please don't hesitate to make an appointment to meet with me (call Jessica at 831.479.6328). I am totally not scary, and you are totally not bothering me - helping you is my job! (FYI I usually have chocolate...)

Have a great semester!
