BA Anthropology, MA Anthropology, PhD Sociology
With Cabrillo College since 1999

I've worked in biological anthropology 1) as a forensic anthropologist (like on the tv show Bones, helping law enforcement identify skeletal remains), 2) as a bioarchaeologist (excavating and studying old graves), and 3) as a medical anthropologist/sociologist (studying procreative matters like infertility and breastfeeding).

I've published two books in anthropology/sociology/women's studies including Not Trying: Infertility, Childlessness, and Ambivalence and Others' Milk: The Potential of Exceptional Breastfeeding. I'll share some stories with you as we explore the basics of Anthropology and/or Women's Studies.

It is my philosophy that all of us are students and teachers. Learning should be fun and collaborative. My classes are a mix of hands-on work and interactive lectures.

I worked full-time (three jobs at the same time!) during college so I understand what it's like to have many competing demands on your study time. Get in touch with me as soon as possible if you find yourself falling behind so we can make a plan for success. You can do it!
