Changing Your Name/ Pronouns in School Systems

Instructions for providing a name other than your legal name, your gender, and your pronouns:

  • Go to Webadvisor and sign in to your accountUnder “User Account” click the link to “eForms”
  • Sign in to eForms using your Student ID and your Webadvisor password
  • Click on “Forms” -Click on “AR- Change of Information”
  • Check box for “Name” to add a chosen name. Fill in your chosen name in the boxes below.
  • You can check the box for “gender identity” if you’d like to specify your identity and your pronouns. Choose the most appropriate option from the lists below.
  • Hit the submit check at the bottom of the screen

 

Instructions for providing a name other than your legal name on Canvas:

  • Sign in to Canvas
  • In the top left hand corner, open the account tab
  • Click on “profile”
  • In the top right hand corner click on edit profile
  • Change your name
  • Click Save Profile

Your chosen name is limited to show only in certain areas. Some documents such as official academic transcripts will still be under your legal name.

If you have legally changed your name you will need to provide your amended Social Security Card and another form of legal ID. You can attach scans of these documents to your online Change of Information form using the attachments button at the bottom of the screen or you can visit the Welcome Center with these forms to complete the formal name-change process.

If you are looking for a way to meet other trans and/or trans supportive students, here are some trans-inclusive student clubs on campus:

  • Rainbow Feminist Club
    Wednesdays 4:20-5:50pm, Room 509
    Using an intersectional approach, the Rainbow Feminist Club aims to promote equity, growth, and understanding among the Cabrillo community and beyond through an activist role and to provide a safe and supportive space for all
  • GSA (Gender and Sexuality Alliance)

  • Office of Student Equity
    Room 104 (located on the outside of Building 100, facing building 450).
    Open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

If you need support or assistance, Cabrillo’s Office of Student Equity aims to be a supportive environment for trans students to receive assistance.
