Meet Our Staff

Director of Student Equity and Success โ€” Leticia Maldonado

Leticia is a Santa Cruz local and daughter of immigrant parents from Mexico. As a first-generation college graduate,  Leticia’s career in higher education has had a special focus on issues of educational equity, international education, advocacy, and assessment.  Leticia joined Cabrillo with a wide breadth of experience in the nonprofit sector as well as working at small liberal arts institutions and large state research institutions such as Pitzer College, UC Santa Cruz, and Colorado State University.  Leticia obtained her Masters of Science in Student Affairs in Higher Education at Colorado State University. Interim Student Equity Program Coordinator โ€” Desiree Farnal

Desiree joins the Office of Student Equity with four years of experience working with youth from underserved communities. After receiving a B.A. in Political Science from UC Santa Barbara in 2012, she returned to Watsonville to work in the local community. She spent the past three years as the YouthSERVE Program Coordinator at the Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz County in which she promoted youth civic engagement and connected youth to opportunities to make positive impacts in the community. Dream Resource Program Coordinator โ€” Adela Naranjo-Bernabe

Adela is a former Cabrillo student who now serves as the Dream Resources Program Coordinator. Her professional experience includes more than nine years of experience working with migrant populations. Among the many capacities she's served in are migrant tutor, recruiter and educator. Adela taught for the PVUSD on several substitute opportunities. As the Dream Resource Program Coordinator, her main goal is to make sure students are connected to both the college and community resources they need. Adela can be reached at or (831) 477-4724.
