Library Policies

Selected Library Policies

  • Behavior. All library patrons are expected to behave politely and respectfully towards other patrons and toward library employees.
  • Cell Phones. Cell phone calls are generally prohibited in the library.
  • Computer Use. Computers in the library are primarily for Cabrillo students, as well as Cabrillo faculty and staff. A few computers are available for use by community members, but only during predictably less busy times. Non-school-related uses are permitted, but only when other students are not waiting for a computer to do school work. Pornography is prohibited at all times, by all patrons.
  • Disruptions. Disturbing of library users for purposes of electioneering, petitioning, canvassing, sales, and other intrusions, is prohibited, with the exception of library and campus surveys.
  • Drinks. Covered drinks may be brought into the library.
  • Food. Consuming food other than unobtrusive snacks is prohibited in the library.
  • Group Study Rooms. All library group study rooms are available to any group on a first come, first served basis. Individual students may use these rooms, but must relinquish them if a group arrives needing a study room.
  • Noise. The Cabrillo College Library is not a completely quiet place, in many areas. In general, patrons may converse in normal speaking tones in areas at the front of the library, but are expected to be quieter, and whisper, in areas further back in the library.
  • Quiet Study Rooms. No talking at all is allowed in the upstairs Quiet Study Rooms.
