Transfer Admission Guarantees (TAGs)

for Fall 2017 Admission


Transfer Admission Guarantees (TAGs) are agreements that are written in addition to the application to a University of California school. TAGs give you guaranteed admission and early notification.

Benefits of completing a TAG:

  • Guarantee of admission upon completion of all admissions and TAG requirements by the end of Spring 2016.
  • Universities will verify your coursework in advance and let you know if there are additional courses you should complete in your Spring semester at Cabrillo for Fall 2017 admission.
  • You can transfer from Cabrillo to any college or university in the country. However, if you’re planning to transfer to one of the below universities, writing a TAG makes the process easier.

If you have completed 30 transferable units through August 2013, you may be eligible to write a TAG for Fall 2014. All students who plan to transfer (whether you write a TAG or not) should meet with a Cabrillo counselor each semester to help with course selection for their specific campus and major.

Steps for completing a Transfer Admission Guarantee (UCs)

UC campuses require all TAGs to be completed online. Please follow instructions below:

  • Have copies of your transcripts from all colleges attended to refer to, do not report from memory.
  • Complete an online TAG application at between September 1st and September 30th for Fall 2015 admission.
  • Review TAG with Cabrillo College counselor. UC Santa Cruz, UC Davis, and UC Irvine require counselor approval. Official transcripts must be on file prior to counseling appointment to complete a TAG. To schedule an appointment with a counselor contact the Counseling office at (831) 479.6274, the Transfer/Career Center at (831) 479.6385, or the Watsonville Center at (831) 786.4734.
  • Apply for admission to the UC campus you wish to attend from November 1st - November 30th at
  •  Complete all remaining coursework and GPA requirements in your TAG agreement by Spring 2015.
  • Check your email (and spam) for any communications from the universities to which you applied.  Follow all instructions in accordance with their deadlines.
