We are pleased to welcome you as a prospective patient to our dental hygiene clinic!

The purpose of the Cabrillo College Dental Hygiene Clinic is to "produce clinically competent, ethical and knowledgeable Dental Hygienists". To that end, the student hygienists at the Dental Hygiene Clinic are equipped to provide their community with quality dental hygiene and dental radiology services at affordable prices. These services are provided in our state of the art dental hygiene educational intuition located on the beautiful Cabrillo College Main Campus.

Our philosophy is to provide you with professional dental hygiene services that will assist you in keeping your teeth and gums healthy. We thank you and appreciate your trust in us and for giving the students the opportunity to learn the skills mandatory to become competent dental hygienists.

We thank you for your support of the Cabrillo College Dental Hygiene Clinic and look forward to seeing you in the clinic soon!

Dental hygiene care is provided by a student dental hygienist and supervised by registered dental hygienists and licensed dentists. The services offered at Cabrillo College Dental Hygiene Clinic are part of a sound dental care program, but are not a substitute for regular visits to your dentist. Cabrillo is a teaching institution therefore these appointments require a commitment of time and the full treatment will require multiple appointments. Each appointment is booked for 2.5 – 3 hours.

Dental Hygiene care received at Cabrillo College Dental Hygiene Clinic is not a substitute for annual visits to a dentist.  Each patient visiting the Cabrillo College Dental Hygiene Clinic must also have a current, diagnostic set of full mouth x-rays taken within the last five (5) years and bite-wings taken within the last two (2) years.

All patients require an initial assessment that the clinician reviews the patient’s medical and dental health history.  An oral health examination is preformed and will determine if the patient will need x-rays and if they are eligible for care in our clinic. Only patients whose care is suitable for teaching purposes are eligible for treatment in the Cabrillo College Dental Hygiene Clinic.  Some patients may initially qualify for treatment and later may no longer be considered appropriate as teaching cases. If this circumstance occurs, services will be discontinued and the patient will be referred to his/her dentist.

The following are conditions of patient acceptability for treatment in the Cabrillo College Dental Hygiene Clinic:

  • Full mouth x-rays taken within the last five (5) years and bite-wings taken within the last two (2) years
  • Free from any medical or dental condition which would make treatment hazardous to patient or operator
  • Oral conditions which are considered acceptable for student learning
  • Patient interest in learning preventive oral hygiene techniques
  • Patient cooperation in keeping scheduled clinic appointments
  • Clinic faculty reserves the right to refuse or discontinue treatment when indicated

PARKING in Parking Lot P

A dental hygiene parking permit is required to park in the assigned DENTAL HYGIENE PATIENT parking spaces in Parking Lot P. This free permit is issued at each appointment and is only valid for one day. Each appointment requires a NEW parking permit.

The permit is also valid in any STUDENT lot space if there are not any dental hygiene spaces available. Patients with a handicap placard may park in any parking space.

Cars parked in any space on campus without a permit are ticketed by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department.

Altered date stamps are not valid.

In order to create a safe and secure environment, all children under the age of 18 years old must be supervised at all times by an adult i.e. a parent/guardian, teacher, or assigned child-care giver over the age of 18. This policy affirms that the Cabrillo College Dental Hygiene Clinic cannot assume responsibility for unattended children.
