Cabrillo College is located on the scenic Central Coast of California (see map). Founded in 1959, Cabrillo College is a fully accredited community college and offers international students opportunity to: 

  • Improve basic English skills 
  • Obtain Associate in Arts and/or Associate in Science Degrees 
  • Obtain Certificates of Proficiency 
  • Complete courses for the first two-years of a four-year baccalaureate degree. 

Why Do International Students Choose Cabrillo College?

  • Lower TOEFL Score Required - Cabrillo College requires a lower TOEFL score than most other colleges and universities. Whereas most institutions require TOEFL scores of 500 and above, Cabrillo only requires a score of 450 on the papers based TOEFL, 133 on the computer based, or 45 on the internet based TOEFL. In addition, Cabrillo College has TOEFL articulation agreements with some of the local intensive English Language Programs which allows students who have completed specific levels of ESL,  to transfer to Cabrillo without the TOEFL score requirement.
  • Affordable Tuition and Fees - Enrollment fees are approximately one third the amount required by the University of California and California State University systems.
  • Transfer to a Four Year University - Students can transfer to the University of California, California State University and private universities from Cabrillo College. Cabrillo College is ranked in the top 10 in rate of transfer to the University of California system.
  • Variety of Majors - Cabrillo College offers a wide variety of majors and programs for students to choose from.
  • Job Training in Dozens of Fields - Choose from computer related fields, digital publishing and multimedia, engineering technology, medical related fields, CISCO Systems Certifications, accounting, horticulture - or one of the many other career training programs. Many certificates can be earned in one or two years.
  • Work Experience Opportunities - Off campus training is possible for students enrolled in an occupational training program through the Cabrillo College Cooperative Work Experience Program.
  • Dedicated Teachers - Cabrillo College instructors are dedicated to student success. The student centered smaller class size allows students to receive individual attention.
  • International Student Advisor and Counseling - International students can meet with full-time staff trained in the area of student related immigration, foreign transcript evaluation and transfer issues specific to international students.
  • English Language Support- Cabrillo College offers a wide variety of ESL (English as a Second Language) classes with excellent instructors.
  • Free Tutoring - The Cabrillo College writing and tutorial center provides free peer tutoring in most subject areas.
  • Location Near the Beach and Silicon Valley - Cabrillo overlooks the beautiful Monterey Bay and is only 30 minutes away from Silicon Valley, where many international computer and technology firms are located.
  • Dozens of Student Clubs and Activities - From student government, to student clubs, and musical performances to archaeology, art exhibits and live theater. Cabrillo College offers dozens of ways for students to get involved.

Nestled in the Aptos hills, the 162 - acre campus overlooks the spectacular Monterey Bay and National Marine Sanctuary. Cabrillo College is located less than two miles from the Pacific Ocean and many classrooms offer beautiful ocean views.

Cabrillo College programs and instructors are renowned for their excellence and dedication to student success. Most faculty members have master's degrees; many have doctoral degrees. Cabrillo's talented and professional faculty members are well traveled and sensitive to cultural differences and traditions.

The campus facilities include a large technologically advances library/learning resources center, science laboratories and classrooms, a computer technology center, computer lab, multimedia classrooms, a photography lab and classrooms, reading and writing center and athletics facilities. In addition to academics, Cabrillo College also offers a variety of extracurricular activities including campus clubs, sporting events, theatrical performances, musical performances and other ways to learn while having fun and making new friends.
