The Cabrillo College English as a Second Language program serves both resident and foreign students from all over the world. It is designed to prepare non-native speakers to succeed in regular academic and vocational classes by helping them read, write, comprehend, and speak American English from beginning to college level.
Things to know before enrolling in an ESL course Select and register for an appropriate starting course by following instructions on a questionnaire provided at the Matriculation Office (Room 808 on the Aptos campus). If you have little or no English, start by taking ESL 200A. If this is your first ESL course at Cabrillo. attend the required orientation for ESL students. You may receive credit for passing an ESL course only one time. If you receive a grade of C or better you may not retake the same course for college credit.
