The Cabrillo College English as a Second Language program serves both resident and foreign students from all over the world.
It is designed to prepare non-native speakers to succeed in regular academic and vocational classes by helping them read, write, comprehend, and speak American English from beginning to college level.
*Due to immigration regulations, students entering the U.S. under an F1 visa must first obtain a TOEFL test score of 450/133 or higher for admission to the college. The TOEFL is not required for permanent residents, U.S. citizens, or students with visa status other than F1. For more information, contact International Student Services.
Select and register for an appropriate starting course by following instructions on a questionnaire provided at the Matriculation Office (Room 808 on the Aptos campus). If you have little or no English, start by taking ESL 200A.
If this is your first ESL course at Cabrillo. attend the required orientation for ESL students.
You may receive credit for passing an ESL course only one time. If you receive a grade of C or better you may not retake the same course for college credit.
