A.S. Degree
The Dental Hygiene Program at Cabrillo College is affiliated with the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, San Francisco. Upon completion of the two-year A.S. Degree program, students are eligible to take the state and national licensing examination needed to become a registered dental hygienist. Review all of the steps to get started toward your degree.

Dental Administrative Assistant Certificate
This free two-course series is designed to prepare students for employment in positions within the dental healthcare industry. The Dental Administrative Assistant performs front office and administrative tasks. Positions require excellent communication and attention to detail. Students will receive a certificate after completing these two courses:

Dental Tech Certificate
The Introduction to Dental Technology Computer Training Certificate of Completion is designed to prepare students for employment in positions in dental healthcare and industry that involve the use of dental patient management software. It will be offered again in Spring 2023.

DH-460A Intro to Dental Infection Control
This course provides instruction required for certification in the role of infection control coordinator in the dental setting. Topics include chain of infection, evidence-based guidelines and standards, governing agency regulations, protocols and procedures for infection control, and development of an infection control protocol for a dental office.

DH460B - Clinical Application to Dental Infection Control Lab
This course teaches, in a laboratory environment, the basic required protocols and procedures used in the dental setting for infection control and aseptic techniques, such as proper instrument sterilization, spore testing of sterilizers, and dental unit water quality standards.
Duration: Eight hours

Prerequisites: DH460A

Cabrillo College Dental Hygiene is approved by the DHBC to provide these courses, which are required for licensure in California.

COVID-19 Proof of Vaccination
Participants for this course must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and must have finished the series and eligible boosters at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of in person onsite classes. The Covid-19 CDC Vaccination Record Card shall be uploaded as well as presented onsite. If there is a necessary reason for exemption from vaccination, a signed letter on office letterhead from a licensed physician must be presented prior to entering the campus.
It is recommended to register as soon as possible, as these classes typically fill up.
The clinic will be closed for construction over the summer. The next available course is September.
