Dental Hygiene

I am a graduate of the Foothill College Dental Hygiene program. After I completed my associate of science degree in dental hygiene in 1975, I went to San Francisco State University for my bachelor's degree in health education and then went to the University of Michigan where I completed my master's degree in dental hygiene in 1978. I practiced clinical dental hygiene for 45 years and have been involved in dental hygiene education since 2006. I also teach general education courses in medical terminology and contemporary health concerns.

I am passionate about teaching ~ whether it is one-to-one patient education, dental hygiene students, dental hygiene educators or general education students. My goal is to support students in their education journey. I make a point to get to know my students their education/career goals and I use a variety of teaching methods to support a diversity of learning styles. I want all students to feel their learning is being supported in my class.

Outside of teaching, I am the managing editor for the Journal of Dental Hygiene, the research journal for the dental hygiene profession. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling.
