Jordan Ellenbach
Associate Professor
Environmental Science

Jordan was born and raised in the Santa Cruz area, and the biodiversity of this region has always inspired himE. He moved down to Los Angeles for university, where he attended UCLA, focusing on learning about the richness and diversity of human and more-than-human communities. After completing his bachelors in Ecology and Evolutionary biology, they jumped straight into my graduate studies, continuing their undergraduate work in plant community ecology, and extending it to think more about the impacts of human-driven land use change on soil microbial communities. They hope to positively impact the environmental health and support California biodiversity through applying ecology. As an applied ecologist, he is working to bring life science more fully into use in our environment and society. Education is one the applied ecological approaches that they are most passionate about -- it is essential to building healthier people, communities and ecosystems! He is thrilled to be teaching at Cabrillo College, and is continuously inspired by the opportunities to excite students about the beauty, complexity, and interdependence of our living world.
