In English C1000, you will master the reading and writing skills you need to be successful in your college and professional careers! Our section of English C1000 has a unifying theme—working. We will use our class’s readings and writing assignments to explore:

• how our society rewards different kinds of work,

• how we experience the work we do/ how work we do defines us,

• how we can educate ourselves about the career paths we are preparing ourselves for,

• the phenomenon of meaningless or even harmful jobs, and,

• work that, while usually uncompensated (with money), can be the most important work human beings can do: creative and artistic work, self-care, recovery from addiction or trauma, political activism, child care/ care work, and spiritual work.
