Music

I am a guitarist, educator, and scholar based in Santa Cruz. I earned my BFA in jazz performance from the New School for Jazz and my PhD in music from UC Santa Cruz. My doctoral research explores the musical labor and the "gig economy" by drawing on ethnographic research in the Bay Area jazz scene. As I guitarist I specialize in jazz, especially the musical legacy of Django Reinhardt. I regularly perform throughout the Bay Area as a member of the Hot Club of San Francisco, Modern Jazz Hot Club, and as a freelance guitarist. I have taught courses in guitar, jazz, popular music, music business, South Asian music, and global music traditions at at UC Santa Cruz, Skyline College, and University of the Pacific. I am excited to be a part of Cabrillo's storied music department and to helping students achieve their musical goals.
