Hello everyone! I am a retired Deputy Fire Chief from the Salinas Fire Department after 31 years of service. I have also been an Adjunct Instructor for Cabrillo College since 1989.

Over the course of my career I have become a California State Master Instructor, a Certified Chief Officer, Certified Fire Marshal, Fire Investigator, Certified Fire Prevention III, Heavy Rescue Instructor, Hazardous Material Specialist, ICS Instructor and a Hazardous Materials First Responder (FRO) Instructor.

I was a Chief Officer for 15 years; 3 years a Battalion/Division Chief; 5 years as the Operations Chief; and, 7 years as the Administrative Chief and Fire Marshal for the Salinas Fire Department. As a Fire Captain, I was the Station Commander for the busiest fire station in Salinas and Captain of the busiest Paramedic Engine in town. Sleep was often a luxury, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. Helping others is always the greater endeavor and often brings about the best intangible rewards.

My academic education includes a Masters in Organization Management (MAOM), Bachelors in Organizational Behavior (OB), and Associates in Business Administration and in Fire Science (Technology).

I teach both on Campus and Online courses. I began teaching online courses at Cabrillo College in 2007. Not discounting the great experiences teaching on campus, but I have also found teaching online courses to be both fun and rewarding. The majority of my Master's course work was from enduring both online and hybrid classes. Therefore, I know exactly how online students may feel during a semester. Nevertheless, I always anticipate having fun teaching as well as providing students with a great learning environment.
