I grew up in Sacramento, CA, and I began my scientific journey at a community college there. In fact, the reason I pursued chemistry in college is because of the wonderful community college professors I had the privilege to learn from. I hope to pay that forward.
I moved out to Santa Cruz, CA in 2002 to attend UCSC where I earned my BS degree in Chemistry and PhD in biophysics. My expertise is in theoretical biophysics, which attempts to explain the complex chemical processes of life with mathematical models.
