Geology

Geology and Earth Sciences are offered as majors at UC and CSU. These disciplines lead to careers in research, education, engineering/consulting, government, and non-profit sectors. Geologists are trained to forecast and reduce risk from natural hazards, evaluate the availability of natural resources, and provide expertise for building and construction work.

Oceanographers work at sea, in coastal regions, and on land, using a variety of field methods and computer-based analysis. Many oceanographers have a different STEM major as undergraduates (such as Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Math) and then may continue on for a masters or Ph.D. in Oceanography or Marine Science.
