Accessibility Tools for Students
Cabrillo College is committed to supporting student success by making digital learning materials as accessible as possible. We recognize that students learn in different ways and may benefit from tools that make text easier to read, provide alternative formats, or support note-taking and study skills. This page brings together a range of accessibility resources so you can explore and choose the tools that best fit your needs.
Accessibility tools can help with many aspects of learning. Some tools improve how websites and online course materials display on your screen—for example, adjusting colors, spacing, or font size to reduce eye strain and improve readability. Others provide text-to-speech or speech-to-text functions, which can help if you learn better by listening or prefer to dictate rather than type. Still others allow you to access course content in alternative formats, such as audio files, electronic braille, or simplified text.
The tools highlighted on this page are available to all Cabrillo students, either directly in Canvas, through free Chrome extensions, or by downloading applications that you can use on your own computer or mobile device. Where possible, we’ve included quick start guides, video tutorials, and links to support services so you can get help right away.
Whether you’re looking for assistance with reading, writing, math, or simply making your online courses easier to navigate, these tools are designed to make learning more flexible and inclusive. Use the accordion sections below to learn more about each category of tools and how to get started.
