Howard Ikemoto Studio dedication

Please join us to dedicate The Howard Ikemoto Art Studio at Cabrillo College!

Howard Ikemoto taught drawing, printmaking, and painting at Cabrillo College for 34 years. He was a beloved teacher who, with a gentle sense of wisdom and humor, encouraged students to take risks and enjoy the process of artistic self-discovery. He was also a respected artist whose work was exhibited in numerous galleries and museums and was widely collected.

We will celebrate outdoors, Saturday May 7th, 2:00-4:00pm on the lawn in front of VAPA 2020.

Bring your memories and tributes to share. Light refreshments will be served.

Parking Lot L by the theatre will be reserved, no permits needed. (Please do not park in the Sesnon Lot)

In memory of beloved art instructor Howard Ikemoto, George Newell and Bruce Nicholson spearheaded a fundraising campaign to name the art studio after him. Having raised $25,000 for an endowed scholarship in his name, the Art Studio classroom will be named in his honor in recognition of Howard’s incalculable contribution to art and artists in Santa Cruz County and beyond.
