TechConnect Captioning

Captioning can be requested on the TechConnect Cloud website, as well as within your Canvas shell. To request captioning through TechConnect Cloud, you will first need to upload the video file.

Note: You cannot request captions for Media that has been linked from YouTube.

Tech Connect Video Captioning FAQ

In order to request captioning through TechConnect Cloud, you will first need to upload the video file. Visit Upload Video to Your Account for instructions.

You can request captioning on the TechConnect Cloud (3C Media) website, as well as within your Canvas shell. The instructions are below for both.

Captioning can be requested on the TechConnect Cloud website, as well as within your Canvas shell. The instructions are below for both. To request captioning through TechConnect Cloud, you will first need to upload the video file (upload video instructions). You cannot request captions for Media that has been linked from YouTube.

Media Requests for Closed Captions must:

  • Be instructor-created for student use only.

  • Have clear audio.

  • Be in English.

  • Not be mostly music.

  • Not be submitted for practice or experimentation.

Failure to comply will result in current and future delays and/or rejection of submissions.

Appropriate submissions will be processed, and captions will be automatically added to your media. You will be notified on your account page.

Captioning services are available while funding exists.

Log into your account at https://www.3cmediasolutions.org/

  1. Click on Media in the menu (closed captioning cannot be requested for content uploaded to Files).

  2. Click on the title of the uploaded video.

  3. Scroll down, click on Submit this Media for Captioning.

  4. Fill out form. Select the type of captioning you are requesting in the drop-down option where prompted, either:

    1. computer-generated (ASR) -- takes approximately 1 day.

    2. human-generated -- takes approximately 5 business days.

  5. Select Submit.

  1. Click on 3C Media within your Canvas shell.

  2. Click on Add From Library. You'll have the option to upload media, or if you already have videos uploaded, you will see them listed here.

  3. To the right of the title click on the wheel to see drop-down options.

  4. Click on Captions to request captions for the selected video.

  5. Fill out form. Select the type of captioning you are requesting in the drop-down option where prompted, either:

    1. computer-generated (ASR) -- takes approximately 1 day.

    2. human-generated -- takes approximately 5 business days.

  6. Click Request.

Shire Captioning Service

Shire is a browser-based captions editor for subtitling videos online. Features include real-time validation, an interactive timeline, shortcuts and much more. Shire is highly customizable. Subtitles can be created by beginners as well as professionals.

Shire Captioning Service FAQs

Shire allows you to caption videos and edit. You can access Shire through 3C Media through TechConnect or through your course once you have created your account.

To gain access to the Shire video captioning edit or within CCC Tech connect, you will need to first register for an account, then second, gain permission to upload videos.

  1. Open the URL for CCC Tech Connect: https://www.3cmediasolutions.org/

  2. Select The Register button located on the upper right corner of the screen.

  3. In the Create new account tab, fill in the required form spaces indicated with an asterisk, then select the Create new account button. Note:use the @ccctechcenter.org email address when filling out the registration form.

  4. CACCC TechConnect email will be sent confirming registration. Note:confirmation may take up to 48 hours to be sent.

This completes the registration process.

Instructions for upgrading permissions to upload video and audio files:

  1. Open the URL for CCC Tech Connect: https://www.3cmediasolutions.org/

  2. Select the Login button located on the upper right corner of the screen.

  3. Type in the username and password, then select the Login button.

  4. Select the Media button, select Add/Upload Media button.

  5. Answer the question regarding upgrading account, to be able to upload videos. Note: approval may take up to 48 hours.

  6. A CCC TechConnect approval email will be sent stating the account is upgraded.

  1. Open the URL for CCC Tech Connect: https://www.3cmediasolutions.org/

  2. Select the Login button located on the upper right corner of the screen.

  3. Type in the username and password, then select the Login button.

  4. Select the Media button, select Add/Upload Media button.

  5. Choose: Upload a video from computer.

  6. Upload a video/audio file to 3C Media Solutions.

  7. Fill out the title, license choice, description.

  8. Select the checkbox for Terms and Conditions,then select the Next button to continue.

  9. Select the Select File button and browse to the video file to upload.

  10. Select the video file, then select the open button.

  11. Next, select the Upload File button to upload the video file.

Uploading a video

  1. Open the URL for CCC Tech Connect: https://www.3cmediasolutions.org/

  2. Select the Login button located on the upper right corner of the screen.

  3. Type in the username and password, then select the Login button.

  4. Select the Media button, select Add/Upload Media button.

  5. Choose: a video already on YouTube.

  6. By default, this form is automatically filled out.

  7. Review the information to ensure it is correct, then select the checkbox “I agree to 3C Media Solutions Terms and Conditions” then select Next to continue.

  8. Then, select Next to continue.

YouTube Captioning
