Canvas Learning Management System

Resources for Canvas

What Is Canvas?

Cabrillo's Learning Management System

Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) used by Cabrillo College. An LMS is software that allows you to deliver courses online, either in a distance, hy-flex or hybrid format.

Cabrillo Faculty can log in to Canvas using your Okta credentials. Once faculty have been assigned to a course, their accounts should be automatically created and added to a Canvas shell. All courses are automatically created in Canvas shortly after the schedule for the term is published.

Note: If you are staff and need Canvas access, please submit a ticket with IT.

Canvas' Instructor Guides are good resources that provide the most up to date information on Canvas.

The CVC-OEI (California Community College - Online Education Initiative) offer a support portal with extensive guides on Canvas course design.

Canvas offers a variety of help channels:

The TLC offers support for Canvas such as:

  • Adding TA's, SI's, Faculty Peer Evaluators, Interpreters, and other support roles

  • Copying courses to share with another instructor

  • Creating sandbox shells
