The TLC in collaboration with stakeholders and instructional colleagues, offer a variety of consultations to get you started on a wide range of topics related to teaching and learning, distance education, professional development, and VRC MySeahawkPD. For more robust support in these areas, we offer full programs (many with stipends!) to support the design and development of your courses.

Transformative Teaching and Learning

This consultation area supports faculty in adopting innovative, equity-minded approaches to teaching. Topics include aligning curriculum with outcomes, applying culturally responsive and sustainable pedagogy, and using engaging, research-based instructional strategies. Faculty can explore tools for reflective practice, construct meaningful learning outcomes, develop equitable assessments, and create inclusive, welcoming classroom environments. Additional support is available for addressing challenging classroom dynamics, demonstrating teaching effectiveness, and exploring grant-funded partnerships to enhance teaching and learning.

Canvas/EdTech/VRC

These consultations focus on effective use of educational technology and digital tools, including the VRC’s MySeahawkPD platform and other TLC-supported instructional technologies. Faculty can receive guidance on course design or redesign, building accessible and engaging courses, and creating clear, inclusive syllabi—including liquid syllabi. Additional support is available for leveraging Canvas features such as grading tools and rubrics to streamline assessment and enhance student engagement.
