ILC Student
Lourdes R., Accounting Major

Being in school means a lot to me. It means that one day I will be able to find a good job, which will give me enough to help my father when he is old. I want to make my father, who studied accounting in Mexico, proud of me. Being in school means that I will have enough to help my daughters fulfill their dreams. Unfortunately, the counselors I had in high school made me see college as something unattainable. My big fear was the language. One day I had the courage to return, and the Integrated Learning Center helped me a lot. I was able to get tutors in math and English, and I felt safe. My great motivation are all my dreams that I have. I want to be a successful woman who, despite having a daughter at such a young age, is successful. My daughters and my father motivate me. It motivates me to know that one day I will be able to help them when they need me. Right now, I am no longer afraid.
