I have been an Instructor at Cabrillo College since 2004 and current department chair. My teaching assignments are in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Human Biology, and Microbiology. I am currently faculty core of UCSC's ACCESS Program. I am also founder and developer of the Biotechnology Program, housed under the Biology Department. Previously, I taught biology courses in the Los Angeles area at El Camino College, Pasadena City College, Los Angeles Harbor College, and Loyola Marymount University. My former research areas include protein phosphatase control of glucose metabolism, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression. For fun I enjoy playing chess. I used to play and direct tournaments and have advised a chess club on campus. I also play the saxophone. I perform with a number of local bands. I have also taken a number of amazing music classes at Cabrillo College that have greatly improved my skills.
