A.A.- Transfer Degree

This degree is intended for students who plan to complete a bachelor's degree in a similar major at a CSU campus. Students completing these degrees are guaranteed admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular campus or major. See Associate Degree for Transfer information

A.A. Degree

This degree is intended for those who do not plan on transferring to the CSU system. Most careers in the field of Kinesiology require a Bachelor's degree or higher. However, this A.A. degree can assist you in gaining employment in positions such as Physical Therapy Aide, Personal Training, and Sports Medicine Clinic Assistants.

This degree requires completion of 60 units.

Personal Trainer Certificate of Achievement

Are you passionate about health and fitness? Start earning a living as a personal trainer upon receiving your certification. Learn basic exercise science and program design, prepare to pass a national certification exam, and gain hands-on guidance through on-campus internships in our state-of-the-art wellness education center. Topics include health screening, strength/fitness assessment, basic exercise science, and program design. A certified personal trainer will have the opportunity to obtain employment in the fitness industry in fitness centers, parks and recreation, educational settings, private businesses and corporations. A personal trainer certification can also be a pathway to careers in strength and conditioning, group exercise, physical therapy, and athletic training.

Sports Medicine Certificate of Achievement

Sports Medicine is a fast-growing industry where you can combine your love of sports with healthcare. You'll help athletes of all levels heal and prevent sports injuries so they can get back to doing what they love.

This fall, explore a new career path and learn what it takes to become a sports physician, athletic trainer, or physical therapist. You'll study the basics of evaluation, rehab, anatomy from professors passionate about the field of sports medicine.

This certificate requires 30-34 units.

Learning Outcomes

  • Perform techniques of evaluation and care of athletic injuries with an increasing degree of proficiency under the supervision of a certified athletic trainer.

  • Develop and apply treatment and rehabilitation protocols.
