Studios and Lab

Cabrillo's MTRA facilities feature state-of-the-art analog and digital equipment. All studios are equipped with cutting-edge Apollo interfaces and plugins from Universal Audio, Mac computers, the latest software tools, and more to ensure that students are using the same tools as industry professionals. The MTRA program also has a great collection of hardware preamps, compressors, equalizers, microphones, and synths including models by Universal Audio, API, Neumann, Royer, Sennheiser, Sequential, and more.

Studio A

Studio A is MTRA program's main studio space and is set up to record up to 16 inputs. The room features a large iso booth, a drum kit, an upright piano, guitar amps, multiple channels of high end outboard preamps, compressors, eqs, and 3-way Dynaudio monitors. Studio A also has tie lines to record from the live room next door which has a grand piano.

Studio B / Cabrillo Immersive Audio Lab

Studio B / Cabrillo Immersive Audio Lab features a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos mixing and production space with Genelec SAM monitors. We are one of the only community colleges in the nation with a Dolby Atmos production studio, and one of only a handful in the greater Bay Area. Our students are learning immersive audio production techniques and have access to state of the art technology, preparing them for the audio jobs of the future.

Digilab

The Digilab is an instructional space with 25 student workstations, each including a Mac, UA Apollo interface, and DAW software and plugins.

Studio C/D & Music Lab

These studios are located in the Cabrillo Music Lab and are each acoustically isolated rooms with a UA interface, a DAW workstation, and studio monitors where students can work on recording and production projects. In addition to these studios, the Music Lab has six Mac workstations available to MTRA students.
