Honors Scholar

Honors Scholar Designation is the highest academic award that can be earned at Cabrillo College

To achieve the Honors Scholar designation, Honors Transfer Program students complete:

  • at least 5 eligible honors courses (minimum of 15 semester units) with a transferable GPA of 3.40 or higher by the end of Spring semester before transfer

  • at least 9 of the minimum 15 units must be from LIST A/"H" courses

  • a maximum of 6 units of the 15 may be from LIST B courses

See LIST A and LIST B Courses HERE

These are the same requirements for UCLA TAP Certification, which gives our students priority admission into the College of Letters and Sciences at UCLA

In their last year at Cabrillo, students submit the Designated Honors Scholar Application to the Honors Transfer Program Office.

Honors Scholar at Graduation and on the transcript:

  • "Honors Scholar" is posted on the student transcript

  • Students receive an Honors Scholar Medal as part of their graduation regalia

  • Students' names are listed in the Graduation/Commencement program as a special category of "Honors Scholars"

  • Students earn a Certificate of Achievement in Honors Scholar

Both honors courses and the Honors Scholar designation will stand out on university applications and improve students' chances of being admitted to selective college and universities.

Private and Public Universities who acknowledge and award benefits for Honors Scholar Designation (program completion) are listed on the HTCC Partnership Agreement link below:

Honors Society (Alpha Gamma Sigma)
