Academic Counseling Appointments

The Academic Counseling Department offers hour-long appointments via phone or online through Zoom. You can schedule an appointment by contacting counselor@cabrillo.edu or call us at (831) 479-6274 . During peak times appointments may not be available for 2-3 weeks. Please plan appropriately.

Prepare For Your Appointment: New Students

  1. Submit a Cabrillo College application. 
  2. Complete the placement process
  3. Ensure that necessary documents have been received by Admissions and Records; including transcripts from other colleges or universities, AP score reports, IB transcripts, etc.

Prepare For Your Appointment: Current Students

  1. Make a list of questions you want to ask your academic counselor.
  2. Ensure that necessary documents have been received by Admissions and Records; including transcripts from other colleges or universities, AP score reports, IB transcripts, etc.
  3. If interested in transfer, make a list of potential universities and major programs.

  • If you are scheduling a phone appointment, please have your phone available at your appointment time; the call may come from a blocked or unknown number.
  • If you schedule a Zoom appointment the link will be provided to you. You can also log into ESARS (coming soon) to obtain the Zoom link. To have a successful online appointment, please make sure to have downloaded, installed, and tested the Zoom application well before your counseling appointment time.

Drop-In Advising

Academic counselors are available for 10-15 minute advising sessions on a first come, first served basis. To be added to the drop-in list please call (831) 479-6274 or email counselor@cabrillo.edu. Drop-in Advising is normally available from 10 am until 3 pm Monday through Thursday, as well as 10 am to 12 pm on Fridays.

Some things that can normally be addressed during drop-in advising are: 

  • Clearing a specific prerequisite with documentation
  • Questions about dropping or repeating a class
  • Permission to take 19 - 23 units
  • Specific questions relating to a limited topic, such a a course equivalency

Drop-in Advising does not include educational plans, graduation petitions, academic dismissal, career advising, transcript evaluation, or assistance with transfer applications.
