Construction & Energy Management and Building Inspection professionals are in high-demand - especially those who have been well-trained, communicate well, have good technical skills, and are current on the latest trends and technologies in the construction, energy, and building inspection sectors.
The CEM program offers a variety of classes from entry-level to advanced. There are technical, managerial, theory, and design courses with most having a lab component for hands-on learning.
In as little time as one semester you can earn one of our certificates and as little as two years for an Associates of Science Degree. With emphasis on Construction & Energy Management and Building Inspection, the CEM program offers:
Three Associate of Science (A.S.) Degrees
Three Certificates of Achievement
Eight Skills Certificates
The CEM program also offers a variety of classes and labs to improve skill-building for those seeking career advancement in the trades. If you are already employed as a contractor, supervisor, inspector, project manager, estimator, scheduler, or any job related to construction, the management level courses are helpful to individuals desiring advancement to administrative or supervisory roles. Examples include Construction Law, Cost Estimating, Planning & Scheduling, and Business Management.
The courses are also designed to keep students and professionals current on methods, approaches, trends, codes, standards, and technology that are constantly changing in the construction, energy, and building inspection fields.
"I work for a plumbing/mechanical/electrical company here in Soquel and have taken almost every CEM course at Cabrillo. All the construction management, code, and energy courses have been high quality and very informative. The instructors are all experts in their fields and truly care about passing on that knowledge. I highly recommend this school and area of study for young people looking to get into the trades, as well as those of us who are already employed and looking to expand our knowledge and training. The trades are extremely understaffed and in need of qualified applicants for entry level jobs that turn into high paying careers. It's also nice that most of the courses are offered in the evening since most construction workers have day jobs. For us as a local company it's also valuable to have Cabrillo as a resource for education and training. There isn't another school close by that fills this need."
